Summary:

 

Long Term Substitute (LTS) Prep Teacher will provide prep time for the Bucks County Intermediate Unit Special Education Teachers each week across a school year.  The LTS Prep Teacher is responsible for ensuring the continuation of academic and/or functional skill instruction in order to maintain consistency in programming.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Maintaining daily classroom schedule, structure and organization determined by the case manager/classroom teacher
  • Follow the established individualized and/or class-wide positive behavior support systems for all students
  • Overseeing the safety of all students and staff
  • Assist with feeding and toileting needs of all students
  • Allow for flexibility in daily schedule based on program needs

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods, and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

 

This is a full-time, 185-day calendar position.  Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with a total of 7.5 hours per day.  Start and end times are dependent upon each student's reporting schedule.

 

Travel:  Travel between schools will be required.  Travel will be dependent upon supervisor developed schedule.

 

Education and Experience:

 

      Level of Degree:

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree
  • PA Special Education Certification

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High energy level and ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of team members
  • Experience working with students with disabilities, specifically those exhibiting delays in communication, behavior and social and functional living skills
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis, specifically prompting, shaping, and reinforcement
