Job Summary:
Special Education Teacher will coordinate and/or provide developmentally appropriate instruction to support the educational programming, social/emotional growth, and physical needs of special education students who participate in inclusive classrooms at Lower Southampton Early Learning Center. Collaborate with multiple team members who provide related services. Plan modified and adapted curriculum and prepare lessons and other instructional materials according to achievement levels of students. Commitment to positive behavior strategies is necessary.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to co-teach in an inclusive preschool environment with multiple team members.
- Reevaluations and IEP development.
- Comprehensive planning of curriculum with appropriate differentiation, modifications and adaptations.
- Observes, evaluates and prepares reports on progress of students

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods, and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
PositionType/expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel: Light travel may be required as job duties demand.
Education and Experience:
- Level of Degree: Bachelors's Degree and/or Master's Degree
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- PA Special Education Certification
- Knowledge of current Federal and PA Special Education regulations
- Experience and proficiency in positive behavior implementation supports (PBIS)
- Ability to communicate effectively
