Summary/Objective:

 

The Long Term Substitute Social Worker has experience in consulting to school classrooms, coordinating team meetings, linking families to agency support, and running groups.  The social worker is one member of a team of support persons who work with students in a variety of educational programs. 

 

This position will be located in Neshaminy School District.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Group counseling including problem-solving, coping skills, social skills, adaptive skills
  • Parent education and support
  • Program and curriculum development to support student emotional/social needs
  • IEP and/or MDT participation
  • Link to community resources and support 
  • Communication with agency supports, families and districts
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods, and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: 

 

This is a full-time, 193-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday.  Hours are dependent on the needs of the districts.  Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

 

Travel:   May be some travel between building sites.

 

Education and Experience:

 

 

     Level of Degree:

 

  • Masters in Social Work
  • Licensed Social Worker
  • School Experience
  • Home and School Visitor Certification

 

     Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Knowledge of Bucks County resources 
  • Familiarity with a variety of social-emotional curriculum
  • Ability to communicate effectively 
  • Collaborate with students, parents, team members, and district personnel
  • Work independently and assist teams in making data-driven decisions to support students
  • Knowledge of current Federal and PA Special Education regulations
