Job Summary: 

 

The Junior Staff Accountant provides accounting and financial support and collaborates with business partners.

Essential Functions:

  1. Responsible for preparing and maintaining assigned budgets including revenues, expenses, and salary and benefit projections.
  2. Performs financial analysis of assigned budgets; identifies trends, variances, and explains changes.
  3. Performs journal entries for assigned programs and activities.
  4. Provides periodic financial reporting to program owners.
  5. Prepares board motions for assigned programs.
  6. Submits annual grant and budget applications using prescribed materials and systems.
  7. This position description does not express nor does it imply that the above duties are the only duties to be performed by the incumbent(s) in this position.  Additional duties may be assigned by Assistant Business Administrator, as needed, to adapt to the changing needs of the organization.
  8. Assist purchasing department with data entry into financial system, request and file W-9 tax information from vendors, and other duties to support purchasing operations.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods, and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: 

 

This is a full-time, 260-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours are dependent on the needs of the districts. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

 

 

Travel:  

 

Occasional travel may be required in support of the position, which may include the need for overnight accommodations.

 

 

Education and Experience:

    • Level of Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is beneficial.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum of two years experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent organizational skills necessary for managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Advanced computer and Excel skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with people on all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions relying on problem-solving skills.
