Summary:

 

Special Education Teacher for classroom programs for middle and high school aged students at Foundations Behavioral Health.  Emphasis is on development of academic, social, pragmatic communication, functional living, and behavior skills.

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

• Overseeing the safety of students and staff throughout the day
• Adapting and modifying instructional materials
• Maintaining technology for students and classroom
• Collecting data daily/weekly on all Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and reporting out in accordance with the school districts reporting schedule
• Developing, writing and implementing IEP’s
• Utilizing evidence based instructional materials and assessment

 

 

Supervisory Responsibility:  No supervisory responsibilities

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods, and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

 

This is a full-time, 193 day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work vary depending on building, but are 7.5 hours per day.

 

 

Travel:   Light travel may be required as job duties demand.

 

Education and Experience:

 

 

      Level of Degree:

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree
  • K-12 PA Special Education Certification and/or Secondary Math and/or Science Certification.  
  • Other Secondary and Middle School Certification, along with relevant experience, may be considered.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in working with students in restrictive settings, i.e., residential, in-patient, partial, etc.
  • Ability to work with diverse learners.
  • Implement IEP's with fidelity.
  • Follow classroom schedule.
  • Direct support staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across a variety of team members including parents.
