Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and mandated school closure period, the Bucks IU Extended School Year (ESY) program for Summer 2020 will now be held using a remote/virtual teaching platform. The number of ESY staff needed in the virtual setting is less than the Bucks IU anticipated for a traditional ESY classroom program. Summary:

Paraeducator for the Extended School Year Program for special education students with Autism, multiple disabilities and a variety of other disabilities.  Paraeducator will be serving students through a virtual platform.

Essential Functions:

• The qualified candidate is responsible to support and facilitate students with special needs in virtual learning setting and socialization at the direction of the classroom teacher.  
• Responsibilities include assisting with student learning, job coaching, assisting with academic needs and providing support to students in a virtual setting.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee maybe required to stand for long periods, and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work:

June 24, 2020 to July 30, 2020

Monday through Thursday

Working ten hours per week. Schedule set based on student availability.

Travel: No travel is involved with this position. 

Education and Experience:

Level of Degree:

Minimum: 48 or more undergraduate credits and/or a Paraeducator Certification.

OR: Undergraduate credits in Psychology, Education or a related field.

Experience & Skills:

• Experience with students exhibiting delays in communication, social interactions, behavioral and functioning living skills a plus.
• Experience assisting teachers, students, and guardians through a virtual platform.
• Experience with virtual learning platforms including but not limited to Seesaw and WebEx.
• High energy level and a willingness to learn new techniques and ability to communicate effectively across a variety of settings and team members is necessary.
