Description

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and mandated school closure period, the Bucks IU Extended School Year (ESY) program for Summer 2020 will now be held using a remote/virtual teaching platform. The number of ESY staff needed in the virtual setting is less than the Bucks IU anticipated for a traditional ESY classroom program. If future needs change for any reason, the Bucks IU will certainly consider your application of employment for ESY. 

 

Summary:

 

Coordinate and/or provide academic and social instruction to support the educational programming and physical needs of special education students assigned to the Extended School Year Programs.

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Independently plan and effectively deliver curriculum based on needs specified in Individual Educational Plans.
  • Observes, evaluates and prepares reports on progress of students.

 

 

Physical Demands:

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met

by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee maybe required to stand for long periods, and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

 

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work:

 

June 24, 2020 – July 30, 2020

Must be available to work Monday through Thursday

Working up to six hours per day, based on student caseload

 

 

Travel:   

 

Travel may be required for in home and itinerant instruction throughout Bucks County. Mileage is reimbursed in accordance with current IRS guidelines and rates.

 

 

Education and Experience:

 

Level of Degree:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • PA Special Education Certification - Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High energy level and ability to communicate effectively across a variety of team members including parents is essential.
  • Knowledge of Sign Language and of amplification and cochlear implants.
  • Listening and Spoken Language Specialization.
  • Due to changes in the program, Bucks IU employees currently working in a virtual setting will have preference as candidates for the ESY program
  • Experience using virtual platforms and technology is preferred.
